Whenever I’m on a road trip, I use a map to find which roads to travel.

Whenever I’m at a state fair, I use a map to find each venue.

Whenever I’m attending a sports event, I use a map to find my seat.

Whenever I’m trying to put a new ‘something’ together, I use the instruction map.

Whenever I bake a new cake, I use a recipe map to mix the ingredients.

 

Whenever I travel through difficult times, I want a map to show me the way.

However, God often gives me a compass.

 

This is what it means to trust God.

We receive our answer when He gives us a compass—then we must trust He will show us the way.

We all want a clear cut map of the future. We all want a distinct look into our future. We all want the simplest and least painful way to our deliverance.

However, along with His compass, come hills, valleys, well beaten roads, and well trodden paths from those that have gone before us.

 

Waiting for God’s answers can be hard.

Looking into an unknown future can be unsettling.

Anticipating what we don’t know can be disconcerting.

 

But through it all, our loving Father, holds our hand and leads us—step by step.

As long as we cling to Him, He will show us the way.

As long as we trust in Him, His needle will stay the course.

As long as we hold fast to that which is good, we will overcome.

 

I want a map to show me the way.

But God has given me His compass.

 

You and I are the same—we want to know Him.

You and I are the same—we want to please Him.

You and I are the same—we want to trust Him.

You and I are the same—we want to glorify Him.

You and I are the same—we want to know His peace.

 

You and I are not alone—we each hold His compass—and He is guiding us along His path, step by step.
