ALLEGIANCE
For many adoptive couples there is a deep sense of loyalty to their birthmother for the gift of her child. It is understandable and inexplicable how adoptive couples feel towards their birthmoms. But our complete allegiance belongs to God.
To be blessed with a child that a couple could not conceive and carry themselves is to be blessed with a gift of inestimable value and worth.
However, there are times that we have heard more praise and glory being showered upon the birthmother, the social worker, the doctor or the attorney--that rightfully belongs to God. How sad it is when we speak with families that have returned home with their babies, and fail to give the greatest glory and praise to the one true God that made their joy possible.
Although we will be grateful throughout our entire lives to our birthmoms that have chosen us to parent their child(ren), we are asked to love the Lord our God with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength.
It is prudent that adoptive couples keep our devotions in their proper perspective.
The best gift you can give to your birthmother, birthfather, and birthgrandparents is:
Be the best Christ-like parents you can be.
